Sherman Alexie — My favorite writer explains the catapult that pushed him to writing.

I have been able to go see Alexie do readings twice in the last 12 years. I sincerely don’t have the words to say how much my life has been impacted by his words. If you have ever seen him though, you know that he is one of the funniest people you’ll ever hear. If you haven’t read anything by him, start with The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven. The book came out twenty years ago and recently Alexie was interviewed in the New Yorker. If you are riveted by it, just know that everything he has published is extremely good.
